Scratchy on the Inside .
Scratchy on the Inside .
When we feel an itch, we scratch it if we can or we grab a friend to scratch it for us . . .
. . . right?
But an itch on the inside is quite another thing altogether. At first, we do not recognise it because it comes through us, as a feeling coated by irritation. We receive the irritation part straight away and immediately assume that it is the other person or the wind, the bank account or even the hair that won't lie flat. But the feeling that lies lurking beneath that irritated surface is the signpost!
That's just the beginning . . .
If we were to dig a little, without releasing an atomic bomb amongst those we care about, we would discover the feeling. This feeling holds atomic potential because it has a little payload of its own. Once we get into contact with the feeling of loneliness or emptiness or anger or terror or sadness . . .
and I can go on like a mad woman through the emotions, but I gather you get the gist?
Once we have established the feeling, we go another step into the turmoil and chaos and discover that there is a thought!
Yes, a thought!
We discover a thought that we had moments or hours or days or even months ago and we most likely had it so fleetingly that it is a surprise when we stumble upon it again.
This thought is the little bugger - sorry . . . problem - which caused the internal itch in the first place.
Now, here comes the end bit!
This thought, with its cloak of feelings and fortress of irritation holds a power over you and makes you doubt yourself, dislike yourself, dislike others, harm yourself, stop caring and act irrationally.
Why?
Because - what you thought was so far removed from your Natural Living Positive Potential that it had to be contained behind a cloak and in a fortress! Your thought did not elevate you, love you, make the most of your potential, believe in you, support you and trust you.
It did the opposite -
It undermined you, distrusted you, tore you down, pulled you down, knocked the positivity right out of your journey and made you feel less than, bound, limited, unsupported and unloved!
And you did it to you!
So, the next time that you feel that itch or the scratchiness and irritation, stop and go look inside and find that feeling and peel it away and pinpoint that thought.
Then, take that thought and reverse it -
Yes - Reverse it!
If that thought is 'I am not good enough' then turn it into "I have always been good enough!'
