How To Be World-Proof
How To Be World-Proof
A frantic day at the office or an exhaustive day at home with all the chores that need to be tended to and the dogs and cats need to be fed at the last minute. The rush of traffic and blowing of horns, the seven coffees suppressing the stress running through the body and the emails that have to be sent immediately. The timed onslaught of cellular activity and the screams of a boss who has no place even being on earth.
The pull of the television for entertainment to escape the paradox of exercising versus yoga. The dash to yoga to avoid being late and the crowded room smelling of sweat and perfume, enough to intoxicate someone into an altered state. The overbooked holiday and the getaway to allow all the work to be completed in silence and peace. The yelling of disgruntled shoppers and the horns blowing out their frustration amongst the people wearing earphones to escape the bombardment of thoughts.
The visitors and their expectations, obligations and insults, continuously mingled with fret over monetary concerns . . . a cheating spouse and the betrayal of a friend. The fight over children, who owns them the most and who cares the most, is convoluted with freedom and gifts. Freedom which comes at a cost as it comes with no responsibility, it only seeks to assuage parental guilt and shame.
The scrutiny of friends and family, sceptical themselves, blaming and shouting, claiming and doubting and all the while pretending to be interested. The social imbalances of games played by those who have no interest in leadership . . . instead bought by politics and they carve the future?
The attempt at prayer and solace, meditation and stillness, if only to quell the need to jump off a precipice. Still, the need for chemical induced peace and the gluttony of foods that will all kill, because different groups say so. Careers which imprison and jobs which entrap, education which defines and titles which maim.
Almost there . . .
The schooling which numbs and the teachers, whose wings are clipped, by wingless drones and the teachings fabricated by those who lack an imagination. At least mingle it with some truth? The needles which are supposed to keep the body disease-free but ignore the dis-ease of consciousness.
The aspirations of the religious, failing to bring heaven to earth, instead placing all others in a different camp and remaining exclusively the possession of a higher authority in the skies. The last but not the least, the cartoons depicting a two dimensional farce of happily ever after, whilst wars are provoked with the unlucky or the rich in resources.
There . . .
Finally - pointing true north and rejecting all the teachings which point in the opposite direction, to those which show the way!
