Questioning and Losing My Faith and Myself
And I need a stable foundation to call home.
What we need
most when the foundations of our childhood, belief systems and core principles
have been shaken to the point that they can no longer support us anymore - is understanding (knowledge).
One would
imagine that another belief system would be the way to go, but contrary to that
idea lie’s the betrayal, heartache, despair and disbelief with that kind of
loss.
The transition
away from a religious ideology and belief system can be devastating to any
human, with the experience akin to the life-force being sucked out of them, or
a personal disorientation away from what matters. This cannot be helped, but
what can make the difference, is learning to recognize it, understand the
process and why it is happening.
It is crucial
to realize that nothing is wrong, although it feels as if the floor has fallen
away and you are expected to fly with wings, which you do not know that you
have. The best analogy that suits this experience is this:
If your
beliefs and religion, your spirituality and the foundation that you have built
your life upon is shaken to its core, it is because that square that you once called ‘home’ is now receiving an
expansion outside its borders.
To put it
simply, your square of beliefs is expanding and extending all around you and
that extension feels like it is threatening the inner square. The experience of
this transition happens all the time but it is how it happens that determines
the most impact. Sometimes, a human being feels the urge to grow and evolve and
their beliefs are a limitation, and they struggle internally until they decide
to leave their school/church/mosque/temple/society or synagogue etc.

There is a
whole wide world of beliefs to choose from (all the colour squares above), and those that we are born with,
are sufficient enough to guide us through life . . . if we do not question or
seek other answers.
Sometimes, a
world event nudges a human being to move outside their square of beliefs, or an
experience which cannot be explained by their beliefs occurs, and they need to
seek elsewhere for answers.
There are
times when a leader falls from grace and prompts the dissolution of - a part of
- or the entire group. Whatever the reason for the change in the boundaries of
any human’s personal beliefs . . . maybe
an encounter with a non terrestrial would do this . . . it takes courage.
Epiphanies,
revelations, a-ha moments and many events internal or external bring in change
and it is voluntary. It may not seem voluntary to the conscious mind but to the
higher (soul and spirit aspect) - it is voluntary.
The immediate
and necessary knowledge, that a human being needs to know, is that this change is
an expansion into unknown territory. Our beliefs hold our consciousness for our
survival, and allow us to function in a positive manner. When our beliefs no
longer serve us, our destiny or our evolution . . . change is prompted. It can
feel like our world is falling away or it can feel like a liberation . . . in
the end, it is a liberation. Our experience of this transition depends upon how
cemented we were within the square of our beliefs.
The world is
going through this on a mass scale, and humans are experiencing this in so many
different ways, from the devastating to the welcoming, from the bewildering to
the breathtaking, from the mind-numbing to the revelatory!
The difference
between all these options . . .
. . . The ability
to go with the flow.
The ability to
let go and trust.
The ability to
release and surrender our outdated beliefs.
What needs to
be realized is that no one is losing anything. That which your religion or
beliefs have held, those which can be distilled into pure teachings, essence or life-affirming
truths – moves within you regardless of the new environment of beliefs. If it
is pure – it goes with you. You have the capacity to learn about anything under
the sun . . . and not feel that your beliefs are under threat, because
everything under the sun and beyond that even, was created by the same Source.
Expansion –
simply put – means that you have to lose yourself to find yourself again. The self
that you feel you have lost is simply a boundary called beliefs that is
attached to an external source, and the self that you gain, is the expanded self
that has a new boundary of beliefs, and a direct inner relationship with the
Source.
