Deaf To the Whispers

THEY COME FROM BEYOND!
The interplay between LISTEN and SILENT is quite profound.
It is no accident that two words, with the same letters, reflect a message of extreme value
- no make that . . . 'worth'.
I have pondered the idea of 'listening' for decades and reasonably thought that it was the sounds of passing traffic, the nagging of a distraught shopper, the cries of love or the helpless pleas of a condemned person. Amidst all the sounds that a person can hear during the day and at night, I felt that there was something missing . . . something that was untouched.
And it would remain that way until I had discovered how to truly listen in the silence.
A journey of prayer, meditation, contemplation and stillness, brought me to an edge that was close to what I was feeling existed on the other side of the sun (or somewhere called eternity).
But Prayer came with expectations. It came with asking and frustration, wanting and needing, desperation and thanksgiving.
But Meditation came with action. It came with visualisations and journeys, imaging and wild fantasies.
But Contemplation came with thoughts. It came with focus and singular attention, wild imaginings and creative bursts.
But Stillness came with body. It came with the desire to scratch and move, tasks and deadlines, and clinging to the body in whatever way possible.
When all was said and done . . .
. . . I chose Surrender
It took years,
It took patience,
It took perseverance,
It took discipline.
It takes diligence,
It takes being not doing,
It takes trust,
It takes acceptance.
In the Silence, when all of nature freezes, and not a star dares to move, nor a dust particle dare to fall, when everything ceases to act and do, move and form . . .
In that state - you Listen.
No orchestra nor symphony on earth can describe the ringing of the spheres and movement of solar systems. No grand piano nor cello can mimic the dimensions of sounds that exist.
No moment in a lifetime can prepare you for the Voice that speaks so clearly, that your ears cannot hear it.
It is a Voice that saturates every cell in your being, that you feel like a galaxy yourself.
It is a Voice that nourishes so completely, that you feel like you have enough life in you for 1000 years.
In the Silence . . . when all of life freezes, the immaculate happens.
